I've organized a set in a park of a private mension in Ardea, near Rome, in Italy. I like to shoot in natural sets, above all in this case, because with a very cheap wedding dress I have got a kind of sylvan fairyTime
It was half morning, probably between 10:00 and 11:00 A.M. It was a spring warm day, but the shadow offered by greenery and a ligh wind allowed me and the model to breatheLighting
I like to shot with natural light. In this case, the light came from a little bit too high point and was too hard, but the greenery offered a cover and worked like a diffusor. In order to balance the shadow, I have used a little filling lightEquipment
For fashion set I usually use my Nikon D700 camera. For this photo I have also chosen as lens my Nikkor 85mm f/1.4. The light on the scene was almost natural, but I have used a flash Nikon SB-910 on a tripod, with a diffusor as filling light. For smoke, I've used a specific device, used in theatreInspiration
I consider myself essentially a portraitist and I like very much to shoot with natural light. I was trying to organize a simple set the could let me take advantage of the nature to create a kind of fantasy photographyEditing
I have tried to shoot this photo without any need of post-processing. However, the union of natural light and filling flash and, above all, the greenery reflections required a little correction of white balanceIn my camera bag
Usually I have in my bag my nikon D700, with the lens Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 and/or the Sigma 50mm f/1.4. In addition to a second battery, and the tools to keep the lens clean, I usually have in my bag the flash Nikon SB-910. For dedicated sets I use to put in my bag some more specifi lens, as the Nikkor 85mm f/2.8 for fashion and portrait and Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 for sports. As secondary and emergency camery, I have in my bag also my fuji X30, the camera I always carry with me, every dayFeedback
I think that in this kind of sets, first of all it is fundamental the management of model, that is always important in a portrait set, but in this kind of place, where the terrain is rough, the weather is warm, the greenery full of flies and mosquitos and the costume uncomfortable, the model should be very patient and collaborative, because for the photographer it is very hard to let her relax during the session. Moreover, the rough terrain can be dangerous for people and equipement, so take care of each single step, you took
