This image what shot over a small tarn on the Hooker Valley Track on the south island of New Zealand.Time
This was shot early in the dawn. It was blistering cold and the tarn had clearly frozen over. Ice was also forming on my boots and camera bag.Lighting
I really wanted to use the highlights on the ice to capture the views attention. Also shooting from a low point of view helped to exaggerate that ice.Equipment
Sony A7R Meterbones adaptor and a Sangyang 14mm 2.8Inspiration
Well the inspiration for this image really speaks for itself I feel...... Who wouldn't be inspired by Mt Cook.Editing
All my images undergo their fair share of treatment. This was a 7 image focus stack but it was also perspective blended to keep Mt Cook from fading away as can often happen when shooting with ultra wide angle lenses. Then selective colour and contrast adjustments. In my camera bag
I carry my Sony A7R and A6000 as a back up camera. A Sangyang plus a 17-40mm, 24-105 and 70-200 all Canon L series lensesFeedback
I highly recommend getting super close to your foreground. It works a treat not just with ice but and foreground subject you want to really emphasis.
