Taken in June in the Superior Hiking Trail area in northeastern Minnesota. Shot the image from the shoreline - the lighthouse overlooks the western shore of Lake Superior. Did some minor enhancement to make it stand out more.

Location
This is one of the sites at Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota along the west edge of Lake Superior. The area is along Route 61 from Duluth to the Canadian border. There are many trails along rivers, waterfalls, smaller lakes, woodland and mountains that go from the shoreline to further west with most trailheads, park entrances and towns overlooking the great lake right off Route 61.Time
We spent the whole day hiking and touring around the area and stopped here about midday.Lighting
The weather was clear and bright and I was able to take this shot without the sun affecting anything.Equipment
This was a couple years ago - I believe I used a Nikon P600 point and shoot with fixed lens. I hand held this and used the auto setting and took many shots.Inspiration
There are many awesome sights around Superior Hiking Trail and this is one of the most striking of lighthouse views I've seen.Editing
I believe this is mostly a straight shot, one of several different angles I took. I believe I enhanced the colors a bit and did a little cropping to remove distracting things from the edges. In my camera bag
Depending where I expect to travel and what I expect to shoot, I usually bring just my camera and an extra battery. Sometimes I may bring a small or large tripod if I am expecting to shoot at night or low light. And since I have three of these Nikon cameras, I will usually have a back up camera if I go on a long trip.Feedback
Always get an idea of what is all in the area so you can have many ideas of what you want to shoot. Since I drive I always like to get an idea of what's along the way. And I take many shots of the subject at different angles and settings so I have a lot to choose from when I decide which photos to keep. The photos should be a good descriptive look at what you want to shoot and you may also take the subject with views of the area surrounding it to put it in it's perspective.
