Behind The Lens

Location

I took this shot on our back deck, when we lived in Virginia. We would sit out there every day, watching the birds and squirrels feeding in the backyard. I kept a planter box full of flowers, and a couple of nectar feeders on the deck railing specifically for the Hummingbirds.

Time

This shot was taken in the early evening, about 4:00 p.m.

Lighting

No special lighting, just afternoon sunlight.

Equipment

I always use my Canon T2i, the lens is a 55-250mm, no flash, no tripod. I had the camera on the 'sports' setting, to capture the action of the hummingbirds/butterflies that were flying around.

Inspiration

I just love trying to capture Mother Nature in action, with my camera!

Editing

For this image, I used very little processing - just 'tweaked' the color and clarity a bit in my editing program. (Picasa)

In my camera bag

I'm an amateur photographer, and took the camera up as a hobby when I retired. So, I have very little in my bag, and I only carry it when/if we travel.

Feedback

I'm a self-taught amateur, and learned how to use my camera by the 'hands-on', trial and error method. That worked for me; just have fun with it!
