This was taken @ 6600 ft in Mullayangiri, in the Nilgiri mountain ranges of India. One of the breathtaking places I've visited in my life.Time
This was one of my favorites. I reached this place early in the morning to watch the Sunrise. Unfortunately, with the clouds, there was no Sun, but the colors Sun gave to the Clouds were breathtaking. It was 5:30 AM and drove 5 hours to reach the place with 30 mins trek to reach the peak.Lighting
I wanted the beautiful & colorful skyline to be the light source with the Mountains amidst the Tsunami of clouds giving it a perfect Landscape painting. The greenery adds to the beauty and the early morning makes the lighting so beautiful and mind blowing.Equipment
This was shot using Nikon D5200 with 18-55 lens at 18mm and f11. No flash used.Inspiration
The breathtaking view, the gorgeous skyline with Sun spurting out of the clouds through the colors, Tsunami of Clouds waiting to emerge out of the huge mountains, the view at 6600 ft makes it mind blowing and this memory was meant to be captured.Editing
To get the lighting right, I increased the whites and to give the colors a boost, I increased the contrast. Also, the clarity was increased to get the details, just right.In my camera bag
I just started Photography as a passion and have Nikon 5200 with kit lens (18-55). Along with it, I do carry 35 mm 1.8G & 50 mm 1.8 G for awesome portraits. A tripod, backup SD card, backup battery and lens cleaning kit makes my Camera bag.Feedback
Head there early in the morning during Jan - Apr to get the Tsunami of Clouds. Trust me its breathtaking. Keep good amount of time to reach (including the 30 min trek). As this place is within a forest range, you would need to reach early to get entry as soon as the gates open (gates are closed at night). Try out few shots with various settings to get the correct WB, Depth & colors, so that you can wait for the correct time to get your awesome shot (memory).
