Behind The Lens

Location

We were staying at a resort outside of Cabo San Lucas. I happened to see this large palm-type plant. It wasn't a tree, but was growing close to the ground. The sun was shining through it and I thought it highlighted the form of the plant nicely.

Time

I think I took the photo in the morning, but it was 10 years ago so I don't have a clear memory of that.

Lighting

Looking for interesting things that are backlit is really worthwhile. The most mundane things can really shine when there's some backlighting — even if the result is a simple silhouette.

Equipment

I don't recall what equipment I used. It was either a compact 35mm camera or my iPhone.

Inspiration

The lighting was just right for this photo.

Editing

I don't recall doing much post-processing.

In my camera bag

I almost have my iPhone with me. If I'm on a walk and planning to take photos, I'll have either my compact 35mm or my Canon SLR.

Feedback

You never know what you're going to find, even if you're just on a walk in your neighborhood. I always have my phone with me, and usually I can get a good shot that can be adjusted with some post-processing.
