Location
This was taken in Ireland, near Donegal. I was staying there last year and felt surrounded by beauty and natural wildness. It is truly a poetic, special place.Time
This was taken in late afternoon. The sea sweeps up and fills the background with water for a part of the day. Here the tide had gone out. I liked the way the sand and textures blended with the foreground. Serendipity really.Lighting
The light in Ireland is always special; constantly changing. You have to be quick to get it before it transforms. This was an unusually still moment.Equipment
This was taken with my sweet Canon Rebel. So easy to carry around. Standard 18-55 lens.Inspiration
Donegal with its hills, sweeping views, changing skies and wonderful light inspired me. I liked the fact there were animals in the photo. The land is still peopled by sheep and cows - and provide a living for people there.Editing
I toned down most of the photo but wanted to keep some of the green which is an important colour in the landscape there. In my camera bag
I carry as little as possible but hope to not be caught out. A spare battery and memory cards as back up. An extra lens, maybe, depending on where I am. Though I tend not to use it. Just have it there for the occasional necessity. If I am shooting water, I would like to have a tripod, but generally speaking, the less equipment the freer I feel.Feedback
A lot depends of luck - as we all know. Generally, lean towards what pulls you in. If you are taking local/landscape shots, you need to live in the area for a few days and breathe it in.
