Behind The Lens

Location

This photo shows a train track in Eastern North Carolina. I was walking along the track and wanted to capture the effect of the rails extending as far as the eye could see. Literally. It's a long straight stretch!

Time

I snapped this picture mid-afternoon, shortly before the "golden time" when the sun bathes everything in orange light. Spring was also budding, as can be seen with the green leaves in the background.

Lighting

Maintaining a healthy balance between the light and dark was essential, but since the the depth of field is so shallow, I felt that keeping the distance bright would help preserve a relatively positive vibe.

Equipment

My Canon PowerShot SX160 IS was all that I used.

Inspiration

I had a desire to share the image of the distance of the train track with others. There was something about the scene that invigorated me.

Editing

No post-processing or editing was done. What you see is exactly what I photographed.

In my camera bag

My bag at the time of this shot generally consisted of nothing more than my point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot SX160 IS.

Feedback

One of the biggest joys in photography is to taking a picture of something that impresses you! Save the moment for others to enjoy. One can show his friends cool things and small little elements of life via photographs. It may be necessary to take multiple shots before you get a satisfactory image. Just don't ever give up!
