That is some FINE processing! The pastels look very very nice, and you got great poses and expressions from the kids.

Location
This photo was taken on the shores of Lake Michigan, it feels so much like an ocean to us that we forget that it's actually a lake. In the far distance you can see little buildings, that is actually the city of Chicago!Time
This was taken right at sunset right after a storm. The waves were huge and the wind was blowing pretty hard, with just a peak of sun coming through right at the end, it was the perfect moment for these siblings.Lighting
Sunset images are my favorite, I shoot most photos during the "golden hour" when the sun and sky becomes magical. I never face my subjects to the sun but rather have the sun come from behind them to create a gorgeous explosion of light. It really helps set the tone for my images!Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D300s and my 35mm prime. That's it! No reflector or Flash used.Inspiration
This image is of my children, so I am always inspired to capture them together. We drove to the beach right after the storm and it was just such a sweet special moment of them talking and walking along the beach. When I look at this photo I see the special bond that they have.Editing
Yes, I love my photos to be bright and airy, with an artistic touch, which I usually achieve through post-processing. I used Photoshop to help bring out the colors in the sky and water, and to brighten the children up. I use a brew of different actions from my favorite vendors to give it that over all artsy look. I'm a huge fan of colored gradients and vignettes, as well as subtle matte. In my camera bag
I am a minimalist, and don't carry much on me. My 35mm hardly ever leaves my camera, but when it does I use a 24-70. I am a firm believer in making art with whatever you happen to have, top of the line or not.Feedback
I find that there are so many elements that need to come together to make a special photograph, you have to think about your lighting and what time of day you shoot, as well as the surrounding area. What will your background look like? Trying to capture people and sunsets can be tricky, sometimes a double exposure comes in handy so that you can add that sunset back in, or perhaps you have to lighten your subjects as I had to do. Emotion is key among subjects, have them do an activity, or even just talk and have a moment! When all the right elements come together, you will be left with a photo you can be proud of!
