The photo was taken not far from my home in an old oaks park. While walking on a paths I noticed these old planks, and decided to step out from paths and take some pictures.Time
My family made small half a day long trip and we happend to be in this place at about noon. It was not the greatest time due to lot of people walking back and forth, so I had to take patience and wait for right moment to avoid people in a frame. Thanks to my family patience, they were even more than me, I managed to make the shot.Lighting
As a main object I choosed old planks covered by moss. There was almost no sun, sky was covered by clouds, but overall light was quite bright. In addition to overcast light trees made some shadows creating some lighter or darker places and greenery effect. I liked the green color around, but it was impossible to make the light I would like, so I made some postprocessing after all.Equipment
Picture was taken on Nikon D5000 with kit lenses 18-55mm. No tripod was used and to keep camera steady I lean with my shoulder on nearby tree.Inspiration
I had no intent to make exact this photo and it was spontanous. Seeing old unnecessary and forgotten planks made big contrast with newly made path. I found some relations on these planks and human relations, then old people ususally are undesirable in a society and left somewhere aside. Old planks were also puted aside giving way to a new paht and moss on old planks stressed on teir unnecessity even more.Editing
As I han no time to set right white ballance in a place, first of all I corrected white balance to get colors like I saw them, and sharpened image a little bit in raw processing. next in photoshop I used dodge and burning to make corrections in some places of picture.In my camera bag
My old Nikon D5000 is allways in my bag and waiting for new trip. Usually it with allready mounted tamron 18-200 mm f:3,5-6,3 zoom lens as it changed my kit lens, and spear battery is allways ready for help. Additionally in my bag you can find Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED lenses which is good for portrait as making nice bokeh effect. I allways have CPL filters for each lenses, cleaning tools and most often one or two SD cards.Feedback
If you now exectly what and where you want to shoot, choose right light (golden hour is preferable), to make picture more stronger. By the way, you shouldn't searh for old planks, most trees has moss on nothern side.
