I captured this photo near Bethel, PA. I didn't think much of it until I shared the image with several friends and their reactions made me stop and take a closer look. Now each time I look at this photo I see the painted beauty that they probably saw and every time it takes me back to that place on the lake on that beautiful day in October.

Location
This photo was taken on a lake in Bethel, Pennsylvania. As a self-taught photographer I enjoy capturing new scenes and places wherever I visit.Time
It was a sunny noon day in October, and the colors of the trees were at their peak, as they often are surrounding my birthday weekend!Lighting
Since this was taken in mid-day I was excited by how vibrant the colors were when I was capturing this image.Equipment
This image was taken with my Canon PowerShot SX40 HS.Inspiration
I was stopping to visit my family on my birthday at their campsite and took a walk around the lake with my brothers and sisters. The colors around the lake were absolutely stunning and the swans were calming swimming and eating on the opposite side of the shoreline. I wanted to capture the beautiful colors of autumn as seen in this part of the state. Pennsylvania can be so beautiful in the autumn. This is my favorite photo from everything I captured that day!Editing
The only post-editing was a touch of sharpening of the image, otherwise this is straight out of the camera! In my camera bag
I usually like to carry both of my cameras and extra long lens when I am doing photography. My trusty Canon PowerShot and my Canon 70D with two lenses (18-55mm and 55-250mm).Feedback
One of my favorite things about living in a state like Pennsylvania is that the weather is always changing. There's an old saying that goes, "If you don't like the weather, just wait 30 minutes, it'll change." You never really know what kind of landscape and nature scenes you might capture when you get outside. I always try to be ready for anything, so having a few lens options is key for me to capturing the right moment when it comes along.
