Thank you! The image was shot with bare glass, and no filter at all. The sky was very much red and yellow that morning, but I was unaware of the purple and pink until I got into Lightroom. Just a few minor adjustments and everything began to pop!

Location
Waterrock Knob Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North CarolinaTime
The image was taken just after 6:00 am as the sun was starting to rise over the Smoky Mountains.Lighting
The lighting was all natural morning light prior to the sun coming up over the mountains.Equipment
The camera used was a Canon Digital Rebel XTi with a Canon EF 28-90mm f/4-5.6 lens with bare glass on a Canon tripod.Inspiration
After a sunset session at this location a few days prior, I knew I needed to see what this area was able to produce at sunrise, and I was not disappointed at all. I have never experienced such a wide range of colors in the sky in such a short period of time in all of my life.Editing
Post-processing was done in Adobe Lightroom to bring out the vibrant colors I witnessed first hand that morning and to sharpen, smooth and add a personal touch to a grainy image that was taken with lesser quality equipment. In my camera bag
Canon Digital Rebel XTi, Canon EF 28-90mm f/4-5.6, Canon EF 100-300 f/4-5.6, Canon Tripod, Miscellaneous Lens Filters, Analog Canon Rebel TiFeedback
I would suggest planning to show up to your sunrise location with a great deal of extra time prior to the scheduled sunrise time, especially if you have a distance to travel and do not want to have to break the posted speed limit.
