Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Gozo, (Malta) in a small village called Xlendi. Xlendi has about 10 streets, and I had the privilege to live there for a couple of months. It is a magical place, a paradise for artists.

Time

Every day I would go to the seafront around 16.30, to see a different spectacle of light.

Lighting

There always is one magical second, when the sun goes down into the sea - when you are patient and wait for the magical moment of perfect golden light.

Equipment

Canon eos 600 D.

Inspiration

I tried to capture the spectacular light and nature in Gozo, Malta. I fell in love with Xlendi, and tried to catch the magic. Every day, for 3 months, I took a photograph at this beautiful small seafront, and every day I thought it was the best I took, ever. (until the next day :-) I would sometimes wait for an hour to catch what I wanted to catch, and sometimes it took me 3 minutes.

Editing

none. but is shoot in raw, too, just to make sure - if it is needed I would post edit.

In my camera bag

A canon eos 600, and several lenses, and lots of cloths to clean the lenses. I also have a piece of rope that I can use as a tripod, if needed. (connected to the camera-body, i put my foot on the other end of the rope and pull tight. works!

Feedback

Patience to wait for the right moment and the right light. A good eye, to scan everything you see in the viewer, a millimeter to the right or left can make the difference between a good and an average photo. Somebody once said to me: everybody can take a picture, not many can show their own point of view on a photograph - always try to capture what you see and feel - no less.
