Location
This was a photo taken in the yard one afternoon while playing bubbles with my daughter. While she was running around popping them, I recognized my reflection in the bubble and thought it would make a really different self portrait if I could capture myself. After a bunch of tries with color I switched to black and white and got a much clearer image.Time
It was afternoon one day when we got home from work and preschool and had some energy to burn off before dinner.Lighting
All natural. Clear skies and lots of sun.Equipment
I used a Sony NEX-F3, no other equipment since I was running around trying to focus on the image in the bubble while it was floating around.Inspiration
I have seen lots of self portraits from other photographers and always wanted to try something different. In the past I've tried using water to catch my own reflection but never gotten the image I really wanted. This was much clearer once I recognized myself in the bubble.Editing
Other than a little cropping and zoom, there was no other editing. I took the shot in black and white. In my camera bag
Nowadays I usually have my Nikon and small lens with me all the time. Even though I'm a lawyer by trade, I never know when I might find a shot I like while traveling around between the different courthouses. My Nikon D5500 and 18mm-55mm lens are my go tos, although I do keep the 55-300mm in the bag as well just in case.Feedback
Fast camera, empty memory card, willingness to sweat in the heat and a good sense of humor because your 4 year old may laugh at your while running around trying to photograph the bubbles she's actively trying to pop.
