This Gopher Snake was curious about the camera I set on the ground during a routine snake rescue, so I snapped a couple of shots before moving him off

A Northern Pacific Rattlesnake kicking back on the den on a lazy spring afternoon

A mantis approaches a camera I've set on the ground, and peers curiously at his reflection in the lens.

This little bobcat approached, sniffed and made a "yuck face" as if to say, "You stink!"

This Northern Pacific Rattlesnake was just chilling in the shade on an especially warm spring day on the den.

This tiny little rubber boa shows clear signs of having been run over by a car or grabbed by a predator and survived -- albeit a bit battered.

This Western Fence Lizard seemed happy to show off his colors.
