Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in a beach named "Digha" which is near Kolkata the capital of the state of West Bengal in India. It was a golden sunset and I took the opportunity to create this great silhouette.

Time

As far I remember it was taken around 6 in the evening...I was not prepared for this shot however I waited for the sun to set in nicely. There was a cool breeze around and i had no tripod with me. It was in the month of January.

Lighting

I tried to use the maximum light from the sun and make a successful silhouette.

Equipment

This was shot with my NIKON D3100 with the tamron lense 18-270 .

Inspiration

I father told me before this shot "I am loving the sun is going down showering all the gold on the sky and the sea, its the greatest touch of MIDAS". I thought of capturing as much Gold in my photo.

Editing

I added some contrast and added some vibrance to it.

In my camera bag

Now I have the D7100 with tokina 11-16 mm for landscapes and the tamron 90mm for my portraits.

Feedback

One should wait for the right moment and observe the shadows of the light (natural) carefully and most importantly it should say..something...like before taking this photo i saw some people searching something at the shore and i thought i can take this opportunity to use the golden light and my picture could say something " In Search of Gold"....
