This Atlas missile, one of the world's first intercontinental ballistic missiles, served an integral part of the nuclear deterrence policy of the United States during the Cold War. Built and tested at the Sycamore Test Facility near Scripps Ranch in San Diego, she now serves as a gate guard at the Gillespie Field Annex of the San Diego Air and Space Museum.
