Location
I took this photo in the natural park of Argimusco (ME), an important archeoastronomy site in eastern Sicily - like Stonehenge, but less famous worldwide.Time
It was more than a year ago, in May 2015, at lunch time. We arrived there in the morning, and spend many hours visiting the place and taking some shots of the characteristics monoliths of the site.Lighting
1 pm is not the best time for photography, but the cloudy mood of that day helped a lot, like a huge softbox.Equipment
I shoot with my standard for that period - D3100 equipped with a Nikkor 18/55 f/3.5-5.6.Inspiration
I was trying to compose the scene and get a nice shot, with clouds on top of the pathway in grass, with monoliths on my right, when those two guy passed next to me. In that moment, I decided to make them part of my shot, and I still have to thank them for making it so special!Editing
I started with usual landscape postprocessing to get a nice color - white balance, blacks and whites point, adding a little bit of contrast. Then I decided to go black and white, and it was a good choice. When satisfied of my b&w, I ended doing some sharpening, and that's it.In my camera bag
I love to take as many things as I can with me when going out, because I usually go out without a specific aim, just trying to live that day. My camera is the Nikon D3100, as mentioned, and depending on the situation I equip it with a Tamron 17/50mm f/2.8 when I wanna do landscapes, a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 for portraits, or a Tamron 70/300 f/4 for specific purposes (like, for example, shooting at Etna's eruption - not very rare!). I also have tripod, ND filters, flash, a torch for lightpainting, and many other little stuffs. Yes, I'm not a fan of "travelling light".Feedback
The biggest advice I can give is: wait. Wait for the perfect moment, wait for the perfect light, wait for the perfect mood. Photography is not "shoot as much as you can". And, also, don't care too much about rules. Obviously you have to expose properly, to frame correctly, etc., but it's not the only important thing. Try to capture an unique moment, to communicate something through photography.
