Behind The Lens

Location

I was on a short trip to Bimini Bahamas and we were out looking for a small local bakery when we came upon this uprooted tree from the previous hurricane which had hit the island.

Time

It was high noon when I found this beautiful location. We sat and ate some of the delicious bread from the bakery enjoying the view.

Lighting

Full sun light helped to show how clear the water is around this island.

Equipment

This was taken with my new Nikon D3200 55-200mm lens. Aperture- F8, ISO-100 and shutter speed 10/2500. I am a brand new photographer and this is my very first DSLR camera. I have never taken a class so every time I take pictures it is a lesson for me. I focus on underwater photography which was the purpose of the purchase of this camera.

Inspiration

I thought the contrast of the bright blue ocean with a decaying tree was breathtaking.

Editing

I generally do a little Photoshop on all of my pictures to adjust color. This picture turned out very well with very little adjustment.

In my camera bag

Most of my gear is underwater based. I have an underwater Ikelite housing for my Nikon D3200. I also have an 8 inch dome port together with an Ikelite DS-161 flash. I hope to purchase a macro lens soon.

Feedback

Travel, travel, travel. I find the best places to take great pictures is in the least likely places. Some of the best photo opportunities for me have been just lucky timing or I wandered upon it on accident. When I am taking underwater pictures I tend to take 200-300 on every dive in hopes of getting 5 good ones.
