This photo was taken in the grounds of the Villa where I reside, in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.Time

To be honest, there was no planning whatsoever, just an eye for detail and a very lucky shot.Equipment
This photograph was shot with my SM-G360H Samsung Prime Core cell phone camera, focal length 3310/1000, shutter speed 1/550 using auto flash, aperture f/2.6.Inspiration
Every day, for the last 6 years, shortly after knocking off from work, I have taken a short walk through our Villa's grounds on my way home. We have many older couples who live here, and who take immense care tending their little gardens, some of which are barely the size of a small side table. On this particular day, it had been raining and was pretty miserable, and I was hurrying home in the rain on foot, when I spotted this particular bloom. I have been told that I have a good eye for certain shots and to be honest, this was simply one of those "wow!" moments, where the lighting was just right and the photography Gods were on my side.Editing
The only post-processing on this photograph was a gray-scale black & white conversion. I have very limited knowledge when it comes to any kind of processing, and am a bit old-school in the sense that I still (perhaps erroneously\0 believe that post processing is "cheating". If I am not able to show the viewer what I saw at the time of the shot, I find it hard to find value in the shot at all.In my camera bag
I always have my SM-G360H Samsung with me. On special outings or where I know it will be a better option I lug along my Olympus SP-550UZ, with at least two spare sets of rechargeable batteries, my cardreader and cable for quick downloads.Feedback
For this particular type of shot, however spur of the moment, there is a certain kind of lighting required, as well as a little patience. It was taken on a fairly busy lane in our villa, in wet conditions, with cars passing with their headlights on, and a lot of waterspray to dodge as well. However, it is often those once off moments, where you take a snap and can only hope that you captured the moment as you saw it. Sometimes you are lucky and it turns out the way you planned it in your head. Other times, it can be rather disappointing. But that's the nature of photography. A bit of skill, lots of luck and an extra helping of passion.
