Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in one of the most picturesque seaside towns in the UK (Weston-super-Mare), you can see Wales from this point. This causeway across Marine Lake is very popular among photographers. I am an obsessed amateur and this unique place always gives me inspiration and great desire to learn and improve my skills.

Time

It was taken late autumn evening . I was lucky enough because that evening the elements all came together - the sunset, a gentle high tide and even some clouds. Not dramatic skies though but the colours were amazing.

Lighting

The light from street lamp posts helped me to focus as it was really dark when I was shooting

Equipment

This shot was taken on my old Canon EOS 400D (standard lens 18-55mm), a tripod.

Inspiration

A couple of years ago I started my obsessive hobby - photography and I started seeing things around. Funny enough but I was more interested in things and places than in the equipment. Looking back at my old pictures I think OMG I did try to capture everything I saw. One day I was looking at some of my "seascapes" and thought there's something wrong, boring, dull... I realised I wanted to try artistic photography. I heard about LE but to be honest I had no idea how to do such shots. This photo is one of my first attempts in LE photography (30 sec)

Editing

As it was the beginning of my hobby and shooting raw was also something new to me, I wasn't that confident about post-processing ( was a bit scared to overdo things) and that's why i used only clarity and colour enhance in the Lightroom.

In my camera bag

Usually I have my Nicon D7000 (lens 18-55 mm, 70-200mm) in my bag

Feedback

High tide, spectacular sunset and dramatic skies would be perfect for such kind of shot ;) Plus some source of light would be ideal. It was autumn and it was getting dark fast but the light from lamp posts helped me to focus.
