Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo at the Lurie Garden in Millennium Park, Chicago. It is part of my more amateur shots, I only had a few months practicing photography. Definitely one of my favorite shots.Time
This shot was taken at around midday, on a particularly cloudy day.Lighting
Despite the cloud filled sky, enough light was able to brighten the scene and really help bring out those bright and vibrant colors.Equipment
I actually didn’t have a professional camera at the time, this shot was taken with my old Galaxy phone at an aperture of f/2.6 and 1/100 exposure.Inspiration
I enjoy nature and wildlife, however in a largely populated city such as Chicago it’s hard to find yourself in a natural and peaceful place. This garden is in the bellybutton of the city, yet being surrounded by all the flowers and colorful scenery, it was hard not to feel inspired to capture what stood before me.Editing
At the time I edited this photo, I was mainly working on getting familiar with editing tools so I didn’t exactly know what I was doing; my goal at the time was to edit the photo to look as close as possible to what I was actually seeing with my naked eye back at the garden. In my camera bag
Now that I do have my Nikon D3300, I carry that baby along with two fully charged batteries and its charger; two lenses, one a 18-55mm and the other a 18-200mm lens; and last but not least, a small tripod whenever things are kind of unsteady !Feedback
What these type of shots remind me is that the equipment or kind of camera you have is not what will define if your photo is good or not. Be creative, it’s all about your point of view and of course take risks !
