Santorini, Greece has a bit of a reputation for their donkeys. At any given point in the day, you'll hear donkey brawls and the jingling of bells as these noisy steeds wind up the long incline trail from the sea to the village of Oia. To get down to a nearby swimming point, my husband and I passed these guys every day and made sure to give them some love for all their hard work. The owners would hustle them along but every so often I'd find them taking a breaking and gazing back at all the curious bystanders who passed by.
