Ponte di Annibale - Cerreto Sannita (Campania - ITALIA) - According to legend Hannibal, the famous Carthaginian ruler, passed through it together with his elephants to hide a war treasure on the "Swan Mount" during the Second Punic War. In a sense this was confirmed when on the 10th of February 1951 some silver coins from that Roman period were found. Ancient historians had different opinions about his presence over these lands. Livy (Titus Livius) narrated that was Hanno, Hannibal's general, the one who came across these lands; Polybius on the other hand sustained it was Hannibal himself.
