Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo near Wernigerode, Germany. This is near the Harz Mountains with it's highest mountain – the "Brocken", with 1142 m, which you can see in the left third of the image.

Time

It was about 16 o clock on a very warm summer day in 2015.

Lighting

The lighting of this image speaks for itself. Completely arranged by mother nature. I just had to be there, took my chance, composed and clicked. ;)

Equipment

I used my new Sony Alpha 7MII with the Sony FE 24-240. I had no tripod with me and took a freehand HDR with 3 images.

Inspiration

I took my camera with me for taking some pictures of the beautiful landscape. The weather was not in focus. The dark clouds came very fast and created this stunning whole of light right above me. I saw such wholes a lot times before, but this one was the greatest and most intensive i ever saw before.

Editing

Like i said before, i took 3 images for HDR, which i combined in Lightroom. This was the only post-processing for that image. I love Lightroom for its very natural HDR look.

In my camera bag

I have a very small bag but therfore i have it very often with me. I'm carriyng my Sona Alpha 7MII, the Sony FE 24-240 and the Zeiss/Sony FE55@1.8. I also have some filters (3 x ND) and Polarisation, but i didn't used it a lot in the last year. At least, there is a small remote and some cleaning-stuff for the lenses. And don't forget: some business-cards and some of my own postcards. Just for giving it away if i meet some kind people who wan't to talk about photography...

Feedback

The following words are not from me, but they are very true: "The best camera is the one you carry with you." Or in my words: Go outside, look to all the interesting things and make i picture if you thing it's wrorth to be taken. Otherwise: enjoy the moment and remember that sceene with your heart.
