Location
The photo was taken in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. This is a view on the main square of the city - the Palace square.Time
I like walking in the city on mornings. Early mornings. When there is almost no traffic and just few people on the streets. I think that only this time you can fell the city. You can feel its breath while the city is still asleep, you not as fast as usually because there is no need to hurry and you afraid that you aweken the city. The picture was taken at about 6.30 AM. I like this time - just you and the city.Lighting
I like the light going out of shadow to the light (from front to the background) so it feels like you yourself are moving.Equipment
I used my CANON 70D and Russian manual lens Zenith 16mm f2.8. I like this lense for landscapes and cityscapes.Inspiration
Saint-Petersburg always inspires me. Its architecture and its history. There are a lot of photos of the city in Internet but htey are almost the same. I like to show the city from different angle or just step back from the points where a lot of people take their photos.Editing
Usually I make some corrections in Lightroom. In this photo I've corrected shadows a little bit and made the sky more blue. I didn't make any lense correction because I like the distortion effect of the lense. In my camera bag
For cityscapes and landscapes I use Tamron 28-75, f2.8 and Zenith 16mm, f2.8. With my cropped Canon 70d these lenses provide angels from 25 mm to 120 mm. I also have a SLIC tripod but I usually take it on night shots. For night shots I also take an electric torch with me.Feedback
For cityscape shots I recommend stand up early. It is really hard for the fist time but then you will like it)) I would also recommend to see the pictures of the place you want to shoot in the Internet. Choose the view you like the most and when you come to the place try to find from where it was taken. Then step back or make several steps left or right. Turn your head, look up and down. I'm sure, if you'll look around you, you will find something interesting and that will make you photo if not unique but certanly not like the others.
