Behind The Lens

Location

This was my very first photography session, it was taken at Heritage Park,in Simpsonville, SC.

Time

This image was taking early evening, 5:30 or so. Which at the time of year was really close to sunset.

Lighting

The lighting for this image was pure natural lighting. What we had that day is what I used, it could not decide if the sun was going to stick around or if the rain clouds were.

Equipment

The Camera I used for this image was my Nikon d3200 with 18-55 mm lens; nothing else.

Inspiration

We had been taking so many typical posed/staged photographs, that I finally said lets get something a little more "natural" of you all. So mom and dad each picked up a daughter, and as soon as mom and dad kissed, the girls threw themselves backwards and I happened to just get that moment perfectly.

Editing

The only postprocessing done to this photograph was the coloring and the added saying. I didn't want it completely a black and white photograph, so I simply messed with the colors to get the look that I wanted.

In my camera bag

The most important of course.... My camera! I always make sure I have plenty of SD cards, I usually carry no less than four SD cards, my 18-55 mm, 35 mm, and my 55 -200 mm lenses.

Feedback

The advice I have is to just keep snapping. You never know what you will capture in any situation. I always continue to snap even when my clients are moving. This is when I capture my really awesome shots, especially when I'm photographing families and children. I also love capturing people when the are not expecting it at all.... I will have to say those are my favorite!
