this photo was taken after a summer storm in bismarck, NDTime
it was taken at sunset. i was super lucky that the storm ended as the sun went down.Lighting
just luck! the sun had a clearing between the clouds as it was setting and the rain just stoppedEquipment
sony a6000, 3 legged thing tripod (albert)Inspiration
my passion is long exposures, this was the first photo i took with my new sony mirrorless camera at the time, i wanted to get a lot of color just sweeping the image.Editing
basic adjustments in lightroom and finalising in PS with sharpening, not too much processing into this oneIn my camera bag
i always have my 3 lenses with me. sony 16-35 GM, 100-400 GM, Sigma 85 dg dn art. i use them with my A7R3. as well i always carry my nd filters with me, cleaning cloth, air blower, rain coverFeedback
In the midwest, there are plenty of summer storms every year. if you get the chance, and you see interesting patterns of clouds, around sunset i highly suggest to go out and explore! i used a bridge to stay covered from the rain until it stopped and went looking for an interesting composition, try to visualise how the movement of the clouds will turn out in the final image. and always try to pull a long exposure! this one was 255 seconds long!
