Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my front yard. My parents had removed all the tulip bulbs from the garden but had accidentally missed this one, which I was really happy about when I discovered it.

Time

This was taken in the middle of the day, it was quite windy, which is probably why the long grass around it created such a painterly look.

Lighting

I really didn't do anything special here. At the time I took this photo I wasn't much aware of diffusers and reflectors, so I just worked with what I had.

Equipment

I used an Olympus E-510, which was my first digital SLR. The lens was a 40-150mm at 150mm. This was handheld.

Inspiration

This was one of my very early on photos and so everything was still really new to me. I really just wanted to play around with the camera and see what I could get.

Editing

I removed some of the saturation in the reds as that was the hardest thing to avoid.

In my camera bag

I love to use a Sony A7r II because it has great image stabilisation. I use a metabones adapter with my canon 17-40mm, 70-200mm and 100mm macro.

Feedback

I had an entry-level camera without a macro lens, so I don't think camera type or lens in this case matter as long as the lens isn't too wide.
