Great portrait, love the simplicity, yet the eyes still draw much of the attention.

A great photo, but the mole on the side of her nose is a little distracting.

Location
This photo was taken in my studio, in Monterrey, Mexico.Time
It was taken on a sunday afternoon.Lighting
I love simple lighting, I think the simpler the lighting pattern, the cleaner a face will look. In this case I used one soft box to create a rembrandt.Equipment
I was using a Paul C. Buff Alienbees flash, a Canon 5D MkIII and one of my favorite lenses for portraiture, the Canon 100mm f2.8L Macro.Inspiration
I called my friend to help me with an idea I had for a video portrait, but because she is not a model I started by taking some photos to start making her comfortable around the camera before I shot the video. When I was editing the shoot I realized how much better the pictures were than the video.Editing
I did some skin retouching, not too much tough, I like portraits to mantain a natural look.In my camera bag
I never leave my Leica M6 at home, and I will usually have either a Leica 90mm, a Carl Zeiss 35mm or my Voigtlander 15mm and some rolls of black and white film of course!Feedback
The advice I always give is: see the light before you start shooting, if you're using flashes with modeling lamps, leave the camera on the table, move your lights and your model around and until you're satisfied, start shooting.
