Location
This shot was taken at the Highpoint boat ramp on the eastern side of Deerpoint Lake in Panama City Florida. It was taken at sunset on a day with a storm brewing.Time
Sunset. Most of my photos here are of the sunset. Almost every sunset is different from all the rest. The ones that are on a day with a storm brewing are my favs. Many of my neighbors will go view the sunset. Many of them leave after the sun has set. I stay longer mostly till dark. There are new colors that show themselves in the twighlight that was not there before. The pinks and purples especially nice. Most people miss this part, after the sun has set. The amazing thing about this photo is the stillness of the waters which allowed for the mirror reflection. This is very rare on this lake, Especially with a storm coming.Lighting
Nothing beats natural lighting for a sunset photo. After viewing many sunsets over the years I found out that from the time the lower edge of the sun touches the horizon to the time the upper edge slides beneath the horizon in three minutes. Marvelous three minutes. That is what I have measured here. I wonder if that is the time all over the earth.Equipment
This photo was taken so long ago I don’t remember but will see what is in meta data.Inspiration
My love for sunsets + my love for the lake + my love of storms = wonderful photo.Editing
I will need to check. Although it looks as I may have used a vignette filter making the edges darker. In my camera bag
Depends on where I am going. My cannon always Of course.Feedback
Patience. Check times for sunset in your area and you will soon find out you can predict the time of tomorrow’s sunset with ease. Watch the weather patterns for storms that may be coming around or after sunset.
