This image was taken at the Red Pine Lake outside of Sandy, UT. This Red Pine Lake is at the top of the Wasatch hiking trail and a very popular site especially during the Fall. The day was beautiful as we reached the Lake and we walked around for a bit resting on a few rocks near this pleasant stream that had pine trees all around and rocks were in different parts of the stream. After grabbing a bite to eat we walked around the Lake and stopped again to rest right near the waters edge and that is when I noticed these logs in the water which I thought were quite cool so I took a couple of pictures of what I saw and the results were amazing even to myself.Time
This image was taken at about 2 in the afternoon and the Sun wasn't shining a whole lot at that time.Lighting
The lighting was perfect with a very nice lighting effect for this particular picture.Equipment
I used a Canon PowerShot SX400IS. I like the camera because it is light weight and I can carry it very easily as I go on my hikes.Inspiration
I really enjoy the great outdoors and taking nature pictures is one of my favorite things to do. I spend a lot of time outdoors and it is amazing to me what we can find out there especially near these lakes and streams. Colors are everywhere especially at this time of the year, great time to get some very awesome pictures.Editing
I did not use any post-processing for this image. In my camera bag
I don't normally carry any other equipment with me except my Canon PowerShot and that is perfect for me especially if I have to do any climbing, I just attach it to my jeans or place it in my backpack and away I go.Feedback
Daytime lighting is a must but I prefer it when the Sun is behind the clouds, I have found that the Sun can make your images too bright and you can't get much detail when the Sun is shining brightly upon a picture that you want to take. When the lighting is right I can always tell that the picture that I am taking is going to be just right and most often it is. Lighting can be a bit tricky and sometimes you might have to wait for the Sun to go behind the clouds if there are any clouds or just take a chance and see what the results might be. I think that if you go on the hiking trails near lakes and streams the best time to go is in the early morning when the Sun is not hitting these areas quite yet and you would be surprised at the amazing pictures that are there waiting for you. It sure works for me...
