Behind The Lens
Location
This was captured one rainy night in our backyard driveway.Time
It was before midnight, late evening, just when the moon came into the midpoint of clear sky between buildings and treesLighting
I was attempting to capture the moon for its own sake. While moving to different positions I coaught a glimpse of the moon in a puddle and decided to capture its reflection. I think some of the colour was created by a tiny bit of petroleum product from the driveway.Equipment
I captured this with my Nikon D5100 using a Nikkor 70/300 lens and set up on a Fotopro C5i tripod.Inspiration
I am always looking for opportunities to capture everyday things in unique ways. Everybody points the lens somewhere in sky to get direct images of the moon, the reflection changes the entire perspective.Editing
I use very little post processing. I believe that the capture is done by the photographer and the processing is done by someone trying to take the natural beauty and turn it into their idea of natural beauty. In my camera bag
I have my kit packed and ready to go pretty much permanently. It contains my Nikon D5100(the first one I purchased), the Nikon D7000, the Nikon D3200 and the Nikon AW100. I interchange several lenses on the 5100 and 7000 but rely mostly on the D3200 with the Nikkor 70/300 lens. I can capture pretty much anything I want with it but have the ability to move to either of the other cameras with any of the other six lensesFeedback
I'm not sure I am qualified to provide any advice being such a novice. My approach is to look at the usual subject matter as you go through your day to day living and see if there is another way to capture it in a way no one else has. Take your time and capture a lot, some are bound to be winners.
