This photo was taken in our kitchen on a rainy day. My son was just learning to walk, he was taking steps while holding on to the chair with his rubber ducky! I love this pic because, with his outfit, it looks like hes doing the salsa!Time
This photo was taken on a rainy afternoon in July, when my son, Roland, was seven months old.Lighting
With the clear back door and the perfect lighting in the kitchen, this image was taken completely with natural light. I like how the shadows play on the floor from the outdoor lighting.Equipment
The equipment used was simply a Canon Rebel T3i with a 50mm 1.8II lens. Nothing fancy!!Inspiration
My son, Roland, was just learning to walk. He was still holding on to furniture taking steps. In this particular instance, he had on an amazing outfit, and he was holding a rubber ducky. I threw a hat on him and took a couple photos ... it was the right place, right time!Editing
The only post-processing I did was a basic uplift in contrast and brightness, which I do for most of my photos to give them an extra something. In my camera bag
I still use my Canon Rebel T3i, it hasn't failed me yet! Generally I carry around my 50mm 1.8II lens. However, I have an array of lenses that I use in particular situations such as: my 10-18mm EFS wide angle, my 75-300mm 1.4-5.6 zoom lens, and my 85mm 1.8 for closeup portraits.Feedback
Gear is important, however you can be a great photographer on a budget! I have never been able to spend more than $300 at a time for any of my equipment, but I still manage to take some great photos. All it takes is skill with the camera that your are using, the lighting and the situation that you are in, and a little bit of computer knowledge. I use GIMP and the Canon software for all of my post-processing. GIMP is a free tool similar to Photoshop. So, don't let the inability to buy fancy equipment deter you from taking great pictures!
