Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Henderson Lake in Lethbridge Alberta. A nice local lake with plenty of ducks and geese. We have even had the occasional Grebe show up.

Time

This was early in the summer last year. This was probably early evening as it is the perfect time for a nice walk.

Lighting

The reflections from the water always provide wonderful lighting and nice colour to photographs.

Equipment

This was shot with my Canon D5300 with a 200 mm lens

Inspiration

I love all birds. My favorite thing is to capture them in flight.

Editing

I just like to download my photos on to my computer. I can then play around with cropping and adding depth a definition to colour in the photos by using different filters in my computers photo software.

In my camera bag

Always keep my camera on hand when I explore outdoors. Always a good idea to have an extra lens cap or two in your camera bag. I also like to take a lens brush to dust off any dust or dirt that may get on the lens.

Feedback

I always just look around and see what speaks to me. I don't always take a lot of time setting up a shot. I do take at least 2 or 3 so I can compare them after. You have to be patient when photographing wildlife. Sometimes when I'm out looking for one thing something unexpected shows up. This can lead to wonderful pictures when you capture the moment.
