The Kiskadee, Bermuda's best known bird, has been imported to fight fruit flies and keep the numbers of anole lizards at bay. Instead they ate such a variety of plants and other critters that they now compete with native and endemic birds. A good example of humans thinking they know how to use nature's formula and instead making things worse... It's the same story with the cane toads that were imported by Australia to fight the insects that ate sugar cane. The toads are now a bigger danger to local wildlife than the insects ever were to sugar cane...
