Location
I took this photo in Glendale, California.Time
It was early evening. A few hours before sunset.Lighting
I used a 500 watt strobe for fill lighting in addition to sunlight.Equipment
I shot this with a Canon 5D Mark II paired with an 85mm f1.2. I shot wide open on the aperture. The shoot was an opportunity to test out high speed sync with my strobe.Inspiration
I wanted to try out new lights on a gorgeous model and singer that was featured on both American Idol and The Voice. Her eyes are quite captivating. I always felt that her hair styles and her gorgeous smile took the limelight from her eyes. The plan was to get shotsome where she wasn't smiling and her hair was either shrouded or cropped out.Editing
The shot was originally a RAW capture. I imported it into Lightroom and made changes to contrast, saturation (for black and white), highlights, and sharpness.In my camera bag
I converted from bag to Pelican case last year to avoid not being prepared for whatever I encounter. I tend to carry a couple of speedlites, 4 prime canon lens (28mm f2.8, 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.2L, and 100m f2.8L Macro) and 2 zooms lens (24-105mm f4.0L and 70-200 f2.8L). I have the Canon 6D, 5D Mark II & III with me at all times.Feedback
