Location
It was my birthday and I was taking a walk through the streets and canals of Venice, California. I spotted this heron from across the street and almost got hit by a car as I was running across to capture this shot.Time
Late afternoon, during a sunset.Lighting
I loved the afternoon light hitting his chest and seeing the red flowers look like an upside down heart reflected in the water.Equipment
Canon T2iInspiration
I was inspired in the moment seeing this beautiful creature with the reflection and the lighting.Editing
It’s been a while since I took this shot but I don’t believe I did any processing other than to crop it.In my camera bag
I now have a Canon t6s and normally just carry extra batteries and lens cleaning tissues.Feedback
I believe that if you watch for something that inspires you or affects you, that’s the way to get an interesting photograph. There’s so many things in nature, places in the world or people to photograph. Finding the unexpected is always one of my favorite ways to capture an image. You just have to get out there and look.
