This photo was taken in Westcliffe, Colorado or what I call "Mayberry with Mountains". We started out at 5am with some sunrise/silhouette (https://www.flickr.com/photos/livingwestcliffecolorado/21415406016/in/album-72157658214826040/) to later meet back at 3pm. The weather conditions abruptly changed arouind noon that day and the snow never stopped falling. We couldn't reschedule because the horses were already brought in and I coulnd't disappoint this lovely couple.Time
This photo was taken May 9, 2015 @ 3:54 pm during unplanned snowy conditions.Lighting
We started out at 5am to get some sunrise silhouettes and the weather was fine, but by 4pm we had snow constantly falling. It was tricky shooting because of the starkness of the white snow. To gain the contrast I wanted I set my Aperture to 5.6, Exposure time at1/250 and ISO to 160 and white balance was on AUTO. Once in post processing I realized I should've let a little more light in. It was so cold and we were hurrying and luckily it was corrected post processing.Equipment
I used my Canon EOS 60D with my EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens with built in flash. I'm rebuilding my studio after loosing all I owned.Inspiration
This was an engagement shoot for KC & Christon. My goal always is not to capture, stop, freeze, smile shots.... rather, I talk to them, make them feel relaxed, calm them so that they can be themselves. I asked them to just ride holding hands and took shots from the front and the back. They used this on the back of their wedding invitations. What an honor!Editing
I always like to say that photography is my medium because I enjoy the post processing so much, but knowing this was for a session, I increased the exposure, added a little more contrast and a touch more saturation. I dodged and burned a couple places as w.ellIn my camera bag
My equipment bag contains my Canon 60D with extra battery grip , and 3 lenses: EF-S 50mm, EF-S 18mm-135mm and EF 70mm-300mm, A batter charger, 3 extra charged batteries, a rain slicker, lens cleaner and remote shutter.Feedback
With snow flakes constantly falling and a moving subject, don't shoot with your auto-focus on. Dial in manually, else-wise your subject will be blurred and that nice lil snowflake with hog all the attention.
