The photo was taken in Rudlfing near my hometown Freising. I was standing next to one of the cars in the middle of the picture...Time
We shot aerial material for a short film about motorcycles the whole afternoon long. As both motorcycles were turning around behind the drone, I decided to take some photos meanwhile... Shortly after we had to end the session because of rain coming from behind...Lighting
Actually the sun wasn't really visible on that day. We had cloudy weather only with diffuse lighting coming through the clouds. But in the post processing of the photomaterial I was able to get this mystical lighting and the clear outline of the sun. I'm still fascinated by the result I got unintentionally!Equipment
It's a drone! Yes, as I'm a professional drone pilot filming and photographing with my DJI Phantoms, Inspire 1 and the attached cameras... For the picture of Rudlfing Church I used the X3 camera of my old DJI Inspire 1.Inspiration
As I already mentioned, I wasn't really there to take photos. We actually shot aerials for a film. But as I was waiting for the others to drive by, I got a little bit bored and took photos of the surroundings... Churches in Bavaria are always a good subject for photos. So it was just a lucky opportunity for me!Editing
I just did the raw-processing of the files from the drone. In this action I played with the different settings for a long time until I got the right light and the natural colors for the grass. In my camera bag
For professionals of drone filming the aerial platforms are usually the most important thing. Depending on the size of the order, I'd take a DJI Phantom 4 or a DJI Inspire 1 Pro with me. Not for taking photos but filming I'd additionally pack a S1000 or M600 of the big DJI copter series in my car. For a making of or a social media post I'd take my Panasonic GH4 with me or even use one of our new 360-cameras. My equipment is actually more for filmmakers than for real photographers, but it workes perfectly to me - and maybe there are a lot people around that are loving aerial pictures just as I am.Feedback
Just take loads of pictures! I know, that there are lots of professional photographers doing a great job in arranging perfekt sets and juggling with impressive post skills. But my strategy is usually to take every photo in many different settings and later to see which one was the good one.
