Location
I took this photo in my own pasture near Kooskia, ID.Time
It was near sunset just before lights out which is perfect for this type of photos.Lighting
Timing and focus is key as well as shutter speed and the F stop.Equipment
I didn't own a good tripod so I set my Canon Rebel XS on an upside down feed bucket, hit the trigger which was set on delayed reaction and jumped in the photo. Takes about 30 minuets or more to hit the right spot when you're photographer and subject with backlighting involved.Inspiration
You see all the photos about the west and cowboys and the ones that stick in your mind are the ones taken at sunset...I wanted to create my own version of them but had model so I became both...Editing
I did a crop and minor color balance, that was about it.In my camera bag
2-3 cameras, 2-3 lens, lots of cards and an open mind.Feedback
When becoming both model and photographer, what I did was put myself in the feeling those photos that I wanted to recreate gave me...then I watched out of the corner of my eye to see if the sun was hitting my lens or if I was blocking the sun (you want to block the sun) and then freeze until the camera goes 'snap, snap, snap'.
