Shot this 2 months ago while staying in Canberra overnight. The weather forecast for the morning was 'No Wind' , Clear with Fog lifting, Sunny day, and Minus 3degrees! So I had to get out there to try get a sunrise photo. It was a perfect morning, the only noises were from the birds and a few people out training in their canoes. I'm very new to photography...but love being out in nature to witness the beauty that is all around us. My camera is an Olympus OMD-EM5 MkII.

I really wanted to capture the sun rising in a beautiful but simple way, the setting was just right with the calm water and fog rolling around, then came this man rowing his canoe, i felt he completed the scene, his silhouette contrasting against the warm golden glow of the rising sun, I was now happy with the shot!Equipment
I took this shot hand held with my Olympus OM-D EM-5 with 14-24mm lens, no filters, no long exposure, no fancy gear.Inspiration
I was just getting into photography and now realized landscape photography was my passion particularly at Sunrise or Sunset. We were on a road trip from Queensland back home to Melbourne and stopped over night in Canberra. It was winter and it was freezing. I noticed the forecast for the next day was to be minus 3degrees, fog, and zero wind...calm...but clear, and sunny....I though very tired from the long drive decided I had to get up to capture a sunrise here! And boy was it worth it!!Editing
Only very very basic edit on my Iphone4, I don't have Photoshop or Lightroom, but I hope to one day, I was fortunate with this shot the lighting was very good.In my camera bag
My Olympus Camera and 2 lens, one wide angle, one zoom. I like to keep it simple and portable.Feedback
Get up early and get out there. I think the great shots come from those willing to spend the time outdoors despite tiredness and climatic discomfort, cause sometimes, unexpectedly a bit of magic happens, I felt very lucky to witness this sunrise, and it's only spurred me on ever since, to get out more, be patient, get ever more familiar with my camera, and fall ever more in love with photography!!
