Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken on the rural site of Südburgenland - a region in Austria.

Time

It was nighttime in summer.

Lighting

This is time exposure, I cannot remember but I suppose it was over 40 seconds.

Equipment

Nikon D-700, 24-70 2,8, tripod & a release cable

Inspiration

I was in a dubious mood and this thunder storm showed up. After the shooting I proudly presented a few pictures and got my fair share of criticism: I was standing in a field with a tripod and a cable - under a thunder storm. The lightning is called 'crawler' and there is no way to predict if it will stay up in the clouds or come down - looking for a piece of metal in a field... maybe have this in mind when you do such thing.

Editing

A bit of color grading but ... I suppose not enough.

In my camera bag

Depends on the situation. I love my mobile photo studio - without a car it is not very mobile. I am training myself to take with me what I need.

Feedback

Don't stand directly under the thunder storm.
