Behind The Lens

Location

This was on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. I can't remember exactly where but it might have been at the start of the Bright Angle trail.

Time

This was one of Arizona's beautiful sunsets! Around 6 to 7 pm!

Lighting

I was just hand shooting and just waited until the sun started setting. This was before I really started to learn the art of photography :) Also just walking around the south rim trail to look for a spectacular view!

Equipment

No special equipment I was just there in the moment although a tripod would have made thing easier and i could have shot longer. I had a standard zoom lense (18-55) the stock one that came with my Canon Rebel EOS TII.

Inspiration

I love the Grand Canyon. I have hiked it 3 times before and seen it's beaty from many different points along the trail but the rock formations on the south rim when the sun sets with some clouds in the sky just light yhe place up with color! I found this rock out cropping very interesting but still allowed me to capture the vastness of the canyon while capture the sky alive at sunset. It's tryly just will take your breath away each time it comes alive like this!

Editing

Just a little color contrast, sharpen image slightly make it a little crisper, and selectively inhancing color in photoshope cs6

In my camera bag

Canon Rebel, canon standard zoom lense (18-55), canon telephoto (75-300), tamron wide angle lense (11-39), tripod, mini tripod, lense filter set (3 dark, uv, polotized), clicker and a sense of adventure

Feedback

Be in the moment and everything will come together. Look out for places that you know might look spactacular at a different time of day in a different light. Practice the technique even on a subject that you are not trying to capture so it is natural and easier to capture when the perfect moment/shoot presents its self. Explore, explore and explore you never know what new angle you will find!
