Location
I took this just outside of the city limits of Bozeman, Montana.Time
It was around midnight.Lighting
There was a bright street light on the left hand side of the shot, which I used to light up the field in front of me. I also used a flashlight to give the fence in the foreground a little more definition.Equipment
I use a nikon d3300, 18-55mm nikon lens, tripod, flashlight, and a remote.Inspiration
Drove around during the day, looking for great spots to take some night shots. Just happened to get lucky with the northern lights.Editing
I tried to do some editing to this picture, but the more I did the less I liked it. This shot is all natural. In my camera bag
My nikon d3300, a 70-300mm lens, extra battery, extra memory card, remote, flashlight, and a cleaning cloth.Feedback
Practice before you plan on going out somewhere, know all you can about your settings. Veiwbug has great tutorials on night photography. Know your camera and have plenty of Patience.
