I have always loved watching birds and enjoy watching nesting. When we realized the nest was built, I knew I would have to capture the moment! The parents weren't too crazy about me getting too close, but all-in-all didn't seem to mind me so close.Editing
After uploading the picture, I only cropped it from the original to make sure I eliminated any unnecessary background, in this case, the backboard to the basketball hoop.In my camera bag
Pretty much just have my Canon 30D with a standard wide/zoom lens. I have a couple of macro extension tubes and a cable release as well. I don't carry a lot of equipment because this is pretty much all I own :)Feedback
Taking pictures of birds requires patience, lots of it too! When taking pictures of a nest you have to make sure you don't startle anyone or cause the parents to become panicked. It really appeared that the birds knew I was in their space, so be patient and try not to move too much so you can get a natural look, and so the birds won't fly away. My advantage was the parents were nesting, so they weren't too quick to leave.
