This photo was taken during my "Plitvice in Spring" photo tour back in May 2015 in Plitvice Lakes national park, Croatia.Time
It was in the evening of the second day of our tour and my participants and me were the only ones left in the park. It was a great evening with shooting beautiful waterfalls.Lighting
I wanted to accomplish a mystical feeling for the viewer when he is looking at the image. Me personally when I am looking at this picture I instantly remember good times we had in Plitvice surrounded by numerous waterfalls and water all around us.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D610 and Tokina 28-70mm f/2.8. Of course I used a tripod because of 13 seconds long exposure which I got using my Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. In this shot I combined a circular polariser and ND filter with 6 stops to get the silky smooth water.Inspiration
I had this picture in my mind long before I pressed the shutter that evening. Dreamy out of this world image. There is just something dreamy and amazing in Plitvice Lakes national park and everyone should visit it at least once in their life.Editing
Usually I do a lot of post-processing, which is pretty usual in landscape photography, but this was not the case. This is a single raw-file processed in Adobe Lightroom and Nik Color Efex Pro.In my camera bag
First thing I have to say is that I take my photo backpack everywhere with me. Usually I keep it in the trunk of my car and I know this is completely not safe, but over the years I got so many good images by having my camera always near me, so when I am driving and I see an interesting scene or a beautiful sunset I can just stop by the road and take pictures. Normally I have my Nikon D610, ultra-wide angle and standard zoom lense in my bag, along with extra batteries, Terrascape filter bag, flashlights and extra SD cards.Feedback
First advice I give to people is not to rush. When you arrive to the scene you like, look around and enjoy the landscape around you. After that take your gear out and start doing magic. Find some interesting composition and then move along and find another one. Looking through your camera's LCD screen doesn't always tell you the right story and when you get home and upload images on your PC, usually it can be a big difference from what you saw in the field on your camera, so that's why I always like to explore the area for some time.
