Captured with the intent that the viewer will have mixed emotions! Yet while observing this beautiful animal in captivity at a local zoo, I was memorized.. The white cloth around the ankle is to protect the elephant from getting injured from the chains. The elephant is lying on its side getting scrubbed and bathed and is in actuality apparently completely enjoying this routine. She eats peanuts, teases the care takers but is the matriarch of two others whom she is watching closely. One misbehaves and it wasn't long before she was up reprimanding the youngest while forgoing the very obvious fact that she was loving every minute of her bath.
