I heard the thud and the shriek as the hawk plunged onto a starling as it flew past my window. They landed in a tangled mass on my front lawn. The hawk dispatched the Starling quickly. I retuned to the open window with my camera, a canon 400D with my 100-400mm lens. The Hawk could see me and didn't seem to care that I was clicking away. Occasionally covering his prey with his wings. Eventually he flew off with the carcass. I was careful not to show any of the gore.
