I take a lot of sunrise and sunset photographs and I always expose for the bright parts of the scene in this case the sun itself.Equipment
SONY DSLR-A330 with Sony 70-300mm zoom lens . HandheldInspiration
I love taking sunrise and sunset photographs and I travelled this particular route daily to my office. I noticed the position of the sun when rising at that time of the year and started taking my camera with me waiting for the right conditions to take some shots. I hate photographs of plain sunrises or sunsets so on this morning a thunderstorm presented the dramatic cloud formations which I have been waiting for and I made a quick exit from the freeway to get to the spot from where I took this imageEditing
I did not do post processing on this as I often try and get the shot in camera. I did however set in camera contrast to +3 and saturation to +3In my camera bag
I have the Sony A330 with an 18-55mm Sony zoom, a 18-250mm Sigma zoom and for the past year I have added a Nikon D7100 with an 18-140mm Nikkor DX lens. For those long shot I also have a Tamron 150-600mm zoomFeedback
As I have already indicated, expose for the highlights push the contrast and saturations and remember, the sun is a boring subject to photograph. Clouds are your best friend
